ATLANTA – Redshirt junior guard Quan Jackson scored 19, senior forward Isaiah Crawley posted his 10th career double-double and Georgia Southern held Georgia State to 15 percent shooting from three-point range on its way to defeating the Panthers 81-62 Wednesday night in the GSU Sports Arena in the quarterfinals of the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Championship. Georgia Southern advances to the semifinals for the third-straight season and plays top-seed and regular-season champion Little Rock Saturday at 11:30 a.m. CT on ESPN+ at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
Game 6 – No. 3 Texas State 85, No. 6 Appalachian State 68
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State rolled past Appalachian State 85-68 Wednesday night at Strahan Arena in front of 6,308 fans, the second-largest crowd in program history. With the victory, the Bobcats advance to the semifinals of the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Championship for a rematch against No. 2 seed South Alabama at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 14 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. It was another wire-to-wire win at home for the Bobcats (21-11, 13-7 Sun Belt) who matched a program record 15 victories at home in a single season and will end the 2019-20 season on a seven-game winning streak at home. The last time a Bobcat team recorded 15 home wins was in the 1993-94 season when Texas State was a perfect 15-0 in Strahan Coliseum.
